INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING LICENSE APPLICATION
FOR AREA 2A (WA-OR-CA)
The
license application form must be fully completed to receive a halibut
fishing license.
INCOMPLETE FORMS WILL BE
RETURNED TO THE APPLICANT.
The following entries must be completed as specified:
Vessel Activity:
Check only one box. A license will be issued for one of the
following: 1) incidental halibut fishing during the salmon troll season;
2) halibut sport charter fishing; 3) directed commercial fishing, and/or
incidental halibut fishing during the longline sablefish fishery (NMFS
limited entry groundfish permit with a sablefish endorsement required).
Official Number:
Enter the Document or Registration Number for U.S. vessels.
Overall Length:
The horizontal distance between the foremost part of the stem and
the aftermost part of the stern (excluding bowsprits, rudders, outboard motor brackets, and similar
fittings or attachments).
Gross Tons, Net Tons, Year
Built: Gross tons,
net tons, and year built as shown on the certificate when the official
number was assigned.
Home Port:
Enter your vessel's primary marine port of operations.
Number in Crew:
Enter the number of crew members, including the Captain, usually on
board while halibut fishing.
Fishing Vessel Plate Numbers:
List all license numbers assigned to the vessel by state or federal
agencies under which halibut are sold.
You must enter at least one agency license.
Commercial Fishing Gear:
Check the principal gear to be used for halibut fishing.
Owner's Signature:
The application must be
signed by the owner of the vessel.
SPECIAL NOTICE

Vessels
bearing a valid Halibut Commission license must also possess all
federal and/or state licenses required for the waters in which they
intend to fish.

The
halibut license number assigned will be the same as the official
number provided on the license application.

The
halibut license must be carried on the vessel and be available for
inspection while the vessel is engaged in the halibut fishery.

Licenses will be mailed to the person signing this
application unless otherwise requested.
NOTES: 1) Incidental commercial during salmon troll
fishery license applications must be postmarked no later than March
31, 2009. Directed
commercial, and/or incidental commercial during longline sablefish fishery
license applications must be postmarked no later than April 30, 2009; 2)
National Marine Fisheries Service regulations restrict the non-treaty
directed commercial halibut fishery to South of Point Chehalis, Washington
and the incidental halibut fishery during the sablefish fishery to North
of Point Chehalis, Washington; 3) a National Marine Fisheries Service
limited entry groundfish permit with a sablefish endorsement is required
to participate in the incidental halibut fishery during the longline
sablefish fishery.
