2002 PIT Tag Demonstration Charter

The International Pacific Halibut Commission (IPHC) is requesting bids from commercial longline vessels to conduct a PIT tagging demonstration charter during October, 2002. The purpose of the charter is to test the procedures being developed for tagging halibut with PIT (Passive Integrated Transponder) tags during the 2003 assessment surveys. This will include carefully landing and releasing halibut from longline gear with no additional injuries, tagging and data capture techniques, as well as full-day simulations of combined grid and tagging operations.
