Pacific Halibut:  Flat or Fiction?

Our special publication by Lauri Sadorus and Birgit Soderlund is now in stock again and we are in the process of filling back-orders.  If you represent an institution of learning and would like more copies, please contact Laura at the IPHC office (206) 634-1838 ext 201.

In the meantime, check out the IPHC Kids' Corner!

Outside Publications

Our staff has also published papers outside of the Commission.  Lists of these works are available, ordered by author or by year.

For more general halibut information, Commission biologist Calvin Blood co-authored a pamphlet with Alaska Sea Grant's Doug Coughenower entitled Flat Out Facts about Halibut (1997).

Graduate student Robert Ames and Commission biologist Gregg Williams, in association with S.M. Fitzgerald, have produced a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Technical Memorandum:  Using Digital Video Monitoring Systems in Fisheries: Application for Monitoring Compliance of Seabird Avoidance Devices and Seabird Mortality in Pacific Halibut Longline Fisheries (NMFS-AFSC-152).

IPHC staff members Kelly Van Wormer and Tracee Geernaert have co-authored a report with Washington Sea Grant's Ed Melvin and Kim Dietrich entitled The Distribution of Seabirds on Alaskan Longline Fishing Grounds: 2002 Data Report.
