Northwest Treaty Tribes Fishery in Area 2A
Northwest treaty Indian tribes were allocated a total allowable catch of 182,000 pounds
in subarea 2A-1 (northern Washington coast) in 1995. Of this total, 11,000 pounds are
reserved for ceremonial and subsistence purposes, leaving 171,000 pounds for the
commercial fishery. The commercial catch as of June 12, 1995 in Area 2A-1 was 175,000
pounds, closing the treaty Indian commercial fishery for the remainder of 1995.
Incidental Commercial Halibut Catch in the Area 2A Salmon Troll Fishery
The total allowable incidental commercial catch of halibut allocated to the salmon
troll fishery was 16,068 pounds. As of June 4 it was estimated that 1,046 pounds were
landed. The salmon troll fishery is scheduled to end June 30, at which time the unused
halibut catch limit will be rolled into the directed commercial catch limit.
Area 2B Canadian Commercial Fishery Update
Canadian halibut landings from Area 2B total 4.0 million pounds through June 11,
leaving 5.52 million pounds of the catch limit to be caught. The fishery will continue
until all IVQs have been taken, or November 15, whichever is earlier.
Alaskan Commercial Fishery Update
It is estimated that the following catches and numbers of landings were made in the
Alaskan IFQ and Community Development Quota (CDQ) fisheries through June 9, 1995.

Annette Island Reserve Fishery in Area 2C
The Metlakatla Indian Community has been authorized by the United States Government to
conduct a commercial halibut fishery within 3,000 feet of Annette Island's Reserve waters.
Two 48-hour fishing periods occurred on May 26 and June 3, producing a total catch of
9,800 pounds.
