The preliminary catch estimate for the sport halibut fishery in Oregon indicates that the catch limit of 161,188 pounds for waters from Cape Falcon to the Oregon-California border has been reached. Therefore, the Oregon sport fishery south of Cape Falcon will close for the remainder of 1998 at 11:59 p.m. on August 23. The Oregon fishery north of Cape Falcon remains open.
