Preliminary estimates through May 25 and projections through May 31 for the South Coast Washington sport halibut fishery (Queets River to Leadbetter Point) indicate that the 31,081 pound quota will be attained by May 31. Therefore, the all-depth sport fishery for halibut will close at 11:59 p.m. on May 31, 1999. The nearshore fishery, which occurs from the Queets River south to 47^o00'00" N. latitude and east of 124^o40'00" W. longitude, will remain open 7 days per week until the overall area quota of 32,081 pounds is estimated to have been taken, or until September 30, whichever occurs first.
