Preliminary estimates through May 24 and projections through May 29 for the South Coast Washington sport halibut fishery (Queets River to Leadbetter Point) indicate that the 33,482-pound quota will be attained by May 29. Therefore, the all-depth sport fishery for halibut closes at 11:59 p.m. on May 29, 2000. The near shore fishery, which occurs from the Queets River south to 47^o00'00" N. latitude and east of 124^o40'00" W. longitude, will remain open 7 days per week until the overall area quota of 34,482 pounds is estimated to have been taken, or until September 30, whichever occurs first.
