2000 Halibut Landing Report No. 3

South Coast Washington All-Depth Sport Halibut Season To Be Closed May 29th

Preliminary estimates through May 24 and projections through May 29 for the South Coast Washington sport halibut fishery (Queets River to Leadbetter Point) indicate that the 33,482-pound quota will be attained by May 29. Therefore, the all-depth sport fishery for halibut closes at 11:59 p.m. on May 29, 2000. The near shore fishery, which occurs from the Queets River south to 47o00'00" N. latitude and east of 124o40'00" W. longitude, will remain open 7 days per week until the overall area quota of 34,482 pounds is estimated to have been taken, or until September 30, whichever occurs first.
