2001 Halibut Landing Report No. 16
Quota Share Commercial Fisheries are Closed
for 2001
It is estimated that the following catches
and numbers of landings were made in the British Columbia IVQ
and in the Alaskan IFQ/CDQ fisheries through November 19, 2001.

The quota share fisheries are closed for
2001. Additional halibut landings may occur so these are not the
final estimates for the year.
Annette Island Reserve Fishery in Area 2C
The Metlakatla Indian community has been
authorized by the United States Government to conduct a
commercial halibut fishery within the Annette Island Reserve.
Thirteen 48-hour fishing periods occurred between May 4 and
October 22, with a total catch of 63,974 pounds. The Metlakatla
Reserve Fishery closed on October 22 for 2001.
