International Pacific Halibut Commission
Announces Scholarship Fund

The International Pacific Halibut Commission announces the establishment of a scholarship fund to support University and Technical College education. The fund has been established to assist the further education of those connected to the halibut fishery and its industry. A limited number of scholarships, each currently valued at $2000 (US) per year, will be awarded. The scholarships are available to Canadian and U.S. students with a connection to the halibut industry. A committee of industry and Commission representatives will review applications and determine recipients based on academic qualifications, career goals, and relationship to the halibut fishery. The first scholarship will be available for educational entrance in Fall 2002. Additional questions can be directed to either Christine Carr (ext. 201) or Bruce Leaman (ext. 203). Applications are available through the Commission offices and must be received by August 15, 2002:
