The Alaskan catch represents 16% of the catch limit. From March 15 to April 15, 2002, 6.3 million pounds, or 10% of the 2002 catch limit, were landed in the Alaskan IFQ fishery. When comparing the actual length of the fishing period, after six weeks, 10.8 million pounds, or 18% of the 2002 catch limit, were landed in the IFQ fishery (April 30, 2002).

The British Columbia catch represents 23% of the 2003 catch limit. From March 15 to April 15, 2002, 2.2 million pounds, or 19% of the catch limit, were landed from Area 2B (British Columbia). Comparing the length of the fishing period, 3.4 million pounds, or 29% of the Area 2B allocation, were landed in Area 2B after six weeks (April 30, 2002).

Northwest Treaty Tribes Fishery in Area 2A

In 2003, the Northwest treaty Indian tribes were allocated a total allowable catch of 483,500 pounds in subarea 2A-1 (northern Washington coast): 27,000 pounds were reserved for ceremonial and subsistence purposes, leaving 456,500 pounds for the treaty Indian commercial fishery. Preliminary estimates indicate that 150,199 pounds were landed during one unrestricted opening (3/1-3/3). A restricted fishery with landing restrictions of 500 pounds per vessel per 24-hour period opened on March 1. It is estimated that approximately 87,458 pounds have been landed in the restricted fishery as of April 15, for a total tribal commercial harvest of 237,657 pounds.
