2005 HALIBUT LANDING REPORT NO. 1
Quota
Share Commercial Fisheries Update
The
quota share halibut fisheries opened on February 27, 2005.
It is estimated that
the following catches and numbers of landings were made in the
Alaskan IFQ fishery through April 18, 2005 and in the
British Columbian IVQ fishery through April 14, 2005.
No Alaskan Community Development Quota (CDQ) landings
have been made.

The Alaskan catch represents 15% of the
2005 catch limit. For comparison, from February 29 to April 16,
2004, 7.3 million pounds, or 12% of the 2004 catch limit, were
landed in the Alaskan fishery. In
British Columbia
, 3.0 million pounds, or 25% of the catch limit, were landed
from Area 2B between February 29 and April 16, 2004, compared to
20% landed in 2005.
Revised 2005 Catch Limit Table
The catch limit table issued in a news
release dated January 24, 2005 contained a computational error.
Please note the revised Area 4 total.
All numbers in the IPHC’s Pacific
Halibut Fishery Regulations 2005 booklet are correct.
