Area 2A Incidental Commercial Halibut Fishery During the Salmon Troll Season is Closing for the Remainder of 2005

The total allowable incidental commercial catch of halibut allocated to the Area 2A salmon troll fishery is 39,918 pounds. Preliminary catch estimates indicate the catch limit will be taken by August 7, 2005. Therefore, the incidental halibut fishery during the salmon troll season will close at 11:59 p.m. on August 7, 2005, and will remain closed for the remainder of 2005.  

 

All-Depth Sport Halibut Fishing from Cape Falcon to Humbug Mountain Open August 5, 6, 7

The summer all-depth season from Cape Falcon to Humbug Mountain will be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 5, 6 and 7. There are nearly 65,000 pounds available for this fishery. Subsequent openings will be announced pending evaluation of the catch. Unlike previous years, there is no minimum size limit. The daily bag limit is one fish and the possession limit is one fish at sea and two fish on land.

Halibut sport fishing continues to be open inside the 40-fathom curve from Cape Falcon to Humbug Mountain . This fishery is open seven days a week and the same length, bag and possession limits as in the all-depth fishery apply.
