2006 HALIBUT LANDING REPORT No. 6

 

Area 2A Directed Commercial Halibut Fishery Closed for Remainder of 2006

The International Pacific Halibut Commission reports that the catch limit for the Area 2A non-treaty directed commercial fishery has been reached, following the July 26 fishing period. Therefore, this fishery is closed for the remainder of 2006.

 

Area 2A Incidental Commercial Halibut Fishery During the Salmon Troll Season

The total allowable incidental commercial catch of halibut allocated to the Area 2A salmon troll fishery is 41,464 pounds. An estimated 15,902 pounds of halibut have been landed in Washington State through July 19. In Oregon, 2,279 pounds of halibut have been landed through July 18, for a total Area 2A catch of 18,181 pounds. The incidental halibut catch fishery during the salmon troll season remains open until further notice.
