Reviews of Scientific Report 83
Periodically the staff writes up a full account of the production
assessment, intended to contain all the information needed to reproduce
the assessment and harvest rate analysis. Previous accounts were
published in 1985 (IPHC Scientific Report 72) and 1999 (IPHC Scientific
Report 79). In 2005 the staff prepared a similar account of the 2004
assessment for publication as IPHC Scientific Report 83. A draft was
reviewed by three assessment scientists, who provided a number of
helpful criticisms, queries,and suggestions. The authors revised the
report according to the reviewers' recommendations in almost all cases, but in a few
instances regarded the suggested extensions as being beyond the intended scope of the
report, which was to document the production assessment. The reviews and the authors'
