IPHC Tag Types

  1. Orange or yellow steel-headed dart tag used in the sport fishery (1994)
  2. Orange or yellow plastic-headed dart tag used in the sport fishery (1994-present)
  3. Orange spaghetti wire (oldest, pre-1980)
  4. Orange Homer sport tag, lock-on (late 1980s-present)
  5. Yellow wire (thin), small fish surveys (1980s)
  6. Yellow wire (thick), (early 1980s)
  7. Pink wire (late 1980s-early 1990s)
  8. Two-tone orange (1995-present)

The picture above shows a Canadian validation tag (proof that the fish has been deducted from the Canadian vessel's individual vessel quota, IVQ).  The IPHC does not issue rewards for these.
