California, Oregon, and Washington

The preliminary catch for the Washington South Coast sport halibut fishery is roughly 19,780 pounds, leaving 20,450 pounds to be harvested.  Therefore, the fishery will re-open Friday and Sunday, May 11 and 13.  The nearshore, all-depth fishery remains open on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Tuesday only, until further notice.  The harvest will be re-evaluated after May 13 and additional fishing days will be announced as necessary.

An overview of the catches by area can be found in the IPHC table, Area 2A Sport Halibut Seasons at-a-glance.  For a more detailed look at the Washington State sport halibut catch, click on Washington State Sport Halibut Catch Updates.  Detailed Oregon State information can be found at the ODFW site.

Further sport halibut regulation information can be found in the Pacific Halibut Fishery Regulations.

Please contact local National Marine Fisheries Service or State Fisheries Department representatives for current information on opening dates, local area closures, and bag limits.
