Quota Share Commercial Fisheries Update
The 2011 quota share halibut fisheries opened on March 12. Preliminary catch estimates and numbers of landings made in the Alaskan IFQ and CDQ fisheries and in the British Columbian IVQ fishery during the 2011 Pacific halibut season are as follows.

The catch from Alaskan waters represents 97% of the 2011 commercial fishery catch limit. For comparison, 41.9 million pounds, or 99% of the 2010 catch limit, were landed during the 2010 Alaskan fishery.
The catch from British Columbian waters represents 99% of the 2011 commercial fishery catch limit. For comparison, 6.6 million pounds, or 100% of the 2010 catch limit, were landed from Area 2B in 2010.
The commercial halibut fisheries closed on November 18, 2011 at noon, local time.
The Area 2A Incidental Commercial Halibut Catch in the Salmon Troll Fishery
The total allowable incidental commercial catch of halibut allocated to the Area 2A salmon troll fishery was 28,126 pounds. A total of 25,950 pounds of halibut were landed in this incidental fishery during the 2011 season.
