The preliminary catch for California's Pacific halibut sport fishery through August 9 was estimated to be 19,316 pounds. After taking into consideration recent catch trends and weather forecasts, fishery managers project that the remaining 5,904 pounds will be taken during the period of August 10-12. As a result, the 2015 Pacific halibut sport fishery in California will be closed for the remainder of the season effective August 13.
